BCM lessons from India’s power sector

India is the world’s third largest producer as well as the third largest consumer of electricity. It has also been exporting electricity to neighbouring countries since March 2017. Whereas the country has been making steady progress to develop the power sector (e.g. such as the establishment of Regional & National Grid), recent policy interventions to upgrade power distribution infrastructure and involvement of the private sector has been key in making sure the majority of the country’s households, industries and commercial organizations receive an uninterrupted electricity supply.
