2023… a productive year for the BCI
With the old year coming to a close and the new year looming on the immediate horizon, we would like to share with you just some of the work we’ve been doing for the members of the BCI and the wider business continuity and resilience community over the last twelve months. Events
- Business Continuity Awareness Week (BCAW) BCAW 2023 was one of the most successful campaigns to date. In 2023 it focused on various aspects of resilience throughout the week including Supply Chain Resilience and Personal Resilience. BCAW 2023 was well received by BCI members and the wider resilience community, with individuals and organizations across the globe taking part in running their campaigns and initiatives to raise awareness of the discipline, including other institutes within the industry.
- 54 Chapter events and 4 Special Interest Group events supported by the team.
- Development of BCAW+R to launch in 2024. The new week will incorporate the BCI’s increasing shift towards resilience – hence Business Continuity and Resilience Awareness Week (BCAW+R) - and will occur between 13 – 17 May 2024. Put the date in your plans now.
- BCI World Hybrid 2023 was a huge success with over 1,000 professionals attending physically in London or virtually. It was also a first for the BCI. We had never run a fully hybrid conference before that saw all keynote sessions and most breakout sessions live-streamed. The professionalism of the live streaming was impressive to watch with the multiple camera angles and speaker captions. The event also saw the BCI return to its first 2-day event post-pandemic, and it was well received by all that attended, including all the exhibitors. Having a 2-day event allowed us to increase the valuable networking opportunities as well. Networking drinks on the evening before BCI World Hybrid saw the launch of the Good Practice Guidelines (GPG) Edition 7.0, and we also re-introduced the BCI Global Awards dinner, which was also live-streamed for all to see. It was great to see so many new faces at the event and participation from over all over the world with delegates from over 50 different countries attending. We are already in the planning stages for a bigger and better BCI World Hybrid in 2024.
The team at Central Office look forward to another year of service to our members – wherever in the world you might be and wish you all a Happy New Year.
