"“If everyone is moving forward together, then success takes care of itself.” Henry Ford may not have been thinking about business continuity and managing risk when saying this (in fact, I can almost guarantee he wasn’t), but it still holds tremendous value within that context. Due to the constantly-evolving nature of today’s business environment, collaborating across an organization has become more important than ever, as business teams are required to look beyond their niches and collaborate with other disciplines to identify and mitigate business risks. The opportunity to work across teams gives business continuity professionals a chance to drive change in the organization, versus taking a backseat to traditionally more prominent disciplines (e.g., IT disaster recovery, information security, and physical security). And, by doing so, professionals can demonstrate the true value of business continuity to the business, further engage partners and organizational leadership, and, most importantly, build a more resilient organization."
